Yes. It is a legal requirement for employers and to pay apprentices for the work they are doing during their apprenticeship. At present the National Minimum wage for apprentices starts at £4.15 per hour. However it is common that employers are paying way above this to attract apprentices to their requirements.
As an apprentice you can train towards nationally recognised qualifications from an NVQ all the way up to a degree apprenticeship. However it does depend on what level of apprenticeship you are studying.
As an apprentice you will receive the same benefits as a permanent employee from receiving a wage to holiday allowances. You will also receive other perks such as discounts on shopping or health care if they are company benefits.
The highest qualification you can gain as an apprentice is a Degree such as a Bachelors or Masters Degree.
